Following on from the sweet example of one who enjoyed much mercy, expressed much love, and rendered much service, we see how the principle is at work more widely.
First, there is one who leads in service - the Lord Christ himself, who goes about heralding and gospelling the kingdom of God.
With him there are twelve who follow in service, the twelve who are in Christ's school, setting an example for the way in which all learn to serve.
Then, there are many who help in service - the women, named and unnamed, who show their spiritual sisterhood with the woman described at the end of chapter 7, serving because saved.
