Romans 1 can help us understand what is going on in the secular world around us. We as individuals or as a culture reject the Creator God Jesus Christ we have no option but to exchange the truth for a lie. This lesson speaks to the awesomeness of Gods creation and the it leaves man without excuse before God.
We are back. And, as you might remember, we left off with Genesis 14 because of the relation it has to the instant death of Ananias and Sapphira. We mixed in 2 Kings 1, 2 Kings 6 thru 8, and 2 Kings 2. And we are astounded that no one has thought to study Acts 5 in the light of the Old Testament complements, because it's impossible to understand what is actually going on in Acts 5 if you don't. It's NOT About Tithing! Now, I don't know why, but our pastor, in his finite wisdom, has determined we need to know how many galaxies they have figured out are out there. Two Trillion. Oh... he explains that we need to account for the vastness that is God, and He shows us by letting us see His handywork. And that's what we need to assume when we read scripture. We're reading something that is completely out of our ability to fully comprehend or understand. Even so, God invites us to make the attempt. But... today is a discussion of Slavery. Human slavery. A few weeks back our pastor asked: Why doesn't the ten commandments condemn slavery? And what about animal slavery? There's a lot he talks about here; the “good”'s and the “very good” of Genesis 1, animal life, the 6th day, Adam is tied to Christ in Romans 5:14. He is a type of Christ. So, the question now is, what was Very Good? There is only one obvious answer, and he actually gives it to us! If you follow what I've written here, you're starting to worry me. One more thing... Slavery is ownership. Ownership of another human being is Evil! And now we're back to Genesis 14. The king of Sodom wants to buy the people. But now, I suggest you press play before you let me confuse you even more. Thanks for listening.
CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON ON READING 'As the apostle says to Timothy, so also he says to everyone, 'Give yourself to reading.' He who will not use the thoughts of other men's brains proves that he has no brains of his own. You need to read. Renounce as much as you will all light literature, but study as much as possible sound theological works, especially the Puritanic writers, and expositions of the Bible. The best way for you to spend your leisure is to be either reading or praying.'
