At the peak of Jesus' ministry, He takes a moment to direct His disciples. He has prepared them for this moment. They had seen His power both publicly and privately on the lake. Now He asks them a question. The question is the same one that every man will have to answer: Who am I? Join us as we look at the titles that are most often used of Jesus.

The way Jesus serves us is the way we are to serve others.

There are at least two occasions when Jesus elicited a confession of who he was from his Twelve disciples. All thee of the synoptic gospel record the conversion at Caesarea Philippi. After their report of the popular opinion of him Jesus asked them, "Who do you say I am?" Their reply voiced by Peter was, "You are the Christ (Messiah)." What exactly are his disciples confessing?

Jesus prepares to leave the disciple but tells them that he will see them again. They are troubled and ask, what do you mean by these things? Through prayer their hearts would be much encouraged of the Lord.

Jesus thought with a clear mind as he approached the passion of the Cross. He knew the addressee of His prayer - the Father. He knew the objects of His prayer - those given to Him by the Father. Jesus called His co-equal in heaven Father speaking of relationship. He called Him Holy Father speaking of His work in sanctification. Here, Jesus called Him "Righteous Father" speaking of His judgment.

In Revelation 5, the Apostle John describes the scroll that is in the right hand of the One who is on the throne. While this passage in chapter 5 does not tell us what is in the scroll, its contents are revealed over the next 12 chapters. Understanding that this scroll is the title deed to the world and that Jesus Christ is the only one who is worthy to open it is a key to better understanding the rest of John's Revelation.

Before his miraculous conception, before Mary and Joseph, in fact, before the whole of Old Testament history or even the creation, the Son of God existed as the second member of the Trinity. He lives in heaven endlessly. His existence is not a monotonous drone but an existence of unique quality and fullness. In a word, it is glorious. Not only does the Son exist eternally in heaven in glory, but he exists as an active participant in relationship. A relationship from which he is also chosen and sent. Such a glorious Son rightly deserves the remarkable titles given to him in Scripture. Take this moment to look again at the Son of God in his preincarnate glory. Be motivated by his grandeur to daily love and devotion.

God revealed himself to Abraham as the one was sufficient to bless him and keep the promises of the covenant, no matter how unpromising circumstances might seem.

Up look: Comprehending Life's Purpose a. Live day by day—eat and drink and enjoy what God gives you (v.24a). When you trust God, day-to-day life is enjoyable and has meaning. b. Find satisfaction in your work: Know that life and work are gifts from God (v.24b). God's Creation Can't Produce Satisfaction God's Contribution to Mankind is Enjoyment God's Cares for Those Who Seek Him No matter what your job is, no matter what your career may be, you have a mission. It is your mission that defines you — not your bank account or your success at the office. Your mission involves serving others for the glory of God. Stop defining yourself by your job title; start defining yourself by your job description.
