We come to our Thanksgiving service and hear that we have received grace that we would deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, living instead, soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world - looking forward towards the hope of glory that Christ has set before us. In this way we find the remedy for our ungodliness and the use of the grace we have received at the Supper. Titus 2:11-15.

Psalm 118:1-29 gives us four practical instructions about praising God for his steadfast love.

The stories we tell ourselves shape us. They shape our identity, our expectations, and our focus. If we tell ourselves, "I am unsafe; I am unclean; I am unable," we will be paralyzed by fear. On the other hand, merely adding positive thinking leads to pride and presumption. The problem with both is they are rooted in self. Psalm 18 shows us a third way – a way not rooted in self but in the saving work of God. David's praise teaches us to say, "Because I am in Jesus Christ, I am safe, I am clean, I am able.

Purity is satisfaction with God's gifts to the glory of God. The life that gives thanks for God's gifts and uses them for His glory necessarily leads to purity in conduct and conversation.

When all earth finally comes to YHWH, what shall they do? Psalm 100 looks forward to the opening portion of morning public worship on the coming Lord's Day. In these five verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that all earth must come and worship YHWH in a manner appropriate to their relationship to Him and to the character that He has displayed in bringing us into that relationship.

Thanksgiving to God for His work and blessings is normal, natural, and expected for a child of God.

"What is God's will for my life?" At some point in your Christian walk, you might have asked yourself that question. But what if God has already told what his will for your life is? If we know what his will is, how do we live it out? What does it look like? When we start to live out God's will, we realize that the choices and decisions for our lives become clear.

Nothing is harder than to turn from pride to Jesus. Nothing is more essential.
