I once rented a car for my family near the LA airport. It was late when we arrived at the rental car building, and the line was slow. When we finally reached the counter I quickly signed the forms, took the keys, and drove to our destination. Later I noticed that I had been charged extra for satellite radio. I called the car company to dispute the charges. The service rep calmly informed me that I had agreed to the charges with my own initials. I had been warned, but didn't care. That's how warning work. They tell people what to expect but don't force anyone to heed the message. That's perfectly fair. God's warnings demonstrate not only his fairness but also his kindness. Even to rebels he graciously cautions against the consequences of sin. And he enlists redeem sinners to spread the message. The call of Ezekiel to a ministry of warning can teach us how to listen to God and urge others to turn from their rebellion. God wants sinners to respect his warnings. But even when they don't, God shows his justice through his warnings.

God here through the Prophet speaks to His people about their wicked ways caused by their thoughts and imaginations. We see here that a transformation has to take place through the Spirit of God working in us, to cleanse our minds through the washing of the water of His Word, that sprinkles us, cleansing us by the renewing of our minds.

Repentance is real, forgiveness is real, God's grace is real. Manasseh was one of the worst of kings, yet when he repented he was pardoned and restored. Yet his son Amon did not repent, and perished. So the call of God goes forth - repent!

2 Samuel 18:5-9 "And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom. 6 ¶ So the people went out into the field against Israel: and the battle was in the wood of Ephraim; 7 Where the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David, and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men. 8 For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the country: and the wood devoured more people that day than the sword devoured. 9 ¶ And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away."

The curtain is lifted on the history of Israel's wanderings and we are, through these sermons of Moses, given an insight into the reasons behind their wanderings. Here are three sins that Israel was guilty of; sins still prevalent today.
