Luke 11:27–36,
[27] As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised
her voice and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you,
and the breasts at which you nursed!" [28] But he said, "Blessed
rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
[29] When the crowds were increasing, he began to say,
"This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, but no
sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. [30] For as Jonah
became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man
be to this generation. [31] The queen of the South will rise up at
the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn
them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom
of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.
[32] The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this
generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of
Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
[33] "No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under
a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the
light. [34] Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is
healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your
body is full of darkness. [35] Therefore be careful lest the light in
you be darkness. [36] If then your whole body is full of light,
having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with
its rays gives you light." (ESV)

Dr. Stringer preaches a dynamic message about a modern day issue.

In Isaiah 46:1-47:15, Yahweh delivers 2 messages
concerning His plans for His people and His enemies.
I. Yahweh warns His people to listen and remember.
A. Fact: Babylon's idols are a burden and require
carrying because they are dead
(46:1-2; 5-7).
B. Listen: I have made, will bear, will carry, and
will save you from birth through death. (46:3-
4).
C. Remember: I am unique, have accomplished
my purposes before, and will do it again in
Cyrus (46:8-11).
D. Listen: Though you are unrighteous, I will
bring My righteousness and save you (46:12-
13).
II. Yahweh promises to destroy Babylon (and all future
Babylons).
A. He will remove their throne and humiliate
them: sit on the ground (47:1-4).
B. He will remove their power and neuter them:
sit in silence (47:5-7).
C. He will judge them for their arrogance
(47:8-11).
D. He will not save them, and they cannot save
themselves (47:12-15).

In Acts Chapter 19 Paul is on his Third Missionary Journey when he arrives in the City of Ephesus.
Acts 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
Ephesus was a major center of Pagan worship.
This morning I want us to see that God changed this Pagan place of Ephesus in three wonderful ways.
God changed Ephesus through a Preacher of the Gospel.
God changed Ephesus through a Purified Church.
Thirdly God changed Ephesus through the Prevailing Word.

We left off last week talking about miracles. A lot of things get called miracles. And a lot of people demand miracles to solve their problems. But, other than salvation – where a spiritually dead person is miraculously brought to life by the Holy Spirit – miracles are very rare occurrences.
Instead, God gives us simple rules and principles to live by. And those are often His preferred method to solving our problems. But regardless of what calamity befalls us, God wants to use these trials to build our spiritual muscles, as we'll learn in the second half of today's message from Pastor Pierre.

We should want to be in the king's favor as we should want to get along with everybody when it is at all possible. We will discuss where that line is where we can no longer please kings and leaders with an example in John the Baptist and the words of Jesus, Paul, Peter and Jude.

The queen of Sheba visits to Solomon to see for herself if the stories of his great wisdom and wealth were true.

The LORD abandons evil men to their desires, and they reap the consequences. NOTE: The Leviticus reference in this sermon should have been Leviticus 20:13.
King Adam needed a queen to help him rule his kingdom. The church is called to help King Jesus.

The LORD cautions us against the deadly allure of idolatry, symbolized by the goddess 'the queen of heaven,' and God rescues us through Christ The King.
Idolatry requires believing two lies: a) the queen brings only harmless goodies, b) The King brings only burdens and trouble. (v.15-18)
Many people are disarmed by mass public approval of idolatry, but it is still a deadly trap. (v.19, 25)
Idolatry presents as innocent and harmless, but in the end is revealed as a very wicked and lethal choice. (v.26-28)
Why must we choose The King or The Queen?
What are the results of idolatry? Rom. 1:18-31, 1 John 5:21
What did Mary mother of Jesus do? Acts 1:14
How will queen worshippers turn to The King? Rom. 10:14

God writes the script of human history. And he is in back of every event - even when people don't realize it, or recognize Him. You' learn in this message how Queen Vashti's saying "No!" to King Abasuerus starts a chain reaction without which we would have no hope in the world. Learn how counterfeit sovereigns cannot do what only the true Sovereign King Jesus can do.

King Solomon began his rule under the wisdom of God. God blessed him and made his name known to other nations. King Solomon had the opportunity to teach others the importance of knowing the true God.

Our next message from Esther, titled, "The Golden Scepter Held Forth." Last time, we saw Mordecai sending word to Esther that Haman was planning the death of all the Jews in all 127 provinces of the Persian empire. Now, we see Esther finally taking the stand she needs, to attempt to save her people. As she approaches the king, will he extend his scepter to her? YES! We consider our topic under these headings 1) The Golden Scepter Held Forth, 2) A Feast in Humility, and 3) Hang 'im High! As always I claim no originality but will quote, cite, refer, etc, to various sources including; Ortland, Duguid, Gregory, Baldwin, Cain, and Carson.

Sovereign Grace Baptist Church - 1 Kings 10:1-13

The LORD reminds us that we are not of this world, and calls us to listen to Him.
Some people never listen. (v.1-19)
Yet another call to listen. (v.20-24)
Those who listen will know whose Word will stand! (v.25-30)
What does fleeing to Egypt teach us? (John 6:68)
Who is not of this world? Jn. 17:14-16, Mt. 23:37-38
Who supplies our needs? Phl. 3:20; 4:19-20, 1 Ptr 1:10-12
Who blinded the minds of unbelievers? 2 Cor. 4:3-4

In this message, we consider Esther 2: 19-23 in our Esther-Hidden Hand series titled, "God Made It Known." We do so under these headings 1) Identity still Unknown, 2) Plot for Murder Made Known. As always I claim no originality but will quote, cite, refer, etc to various sources including Cain, Duguid, Orlund, Carson, Baldwin, and Gregory.

As we enter the New Year, I want to remind us of the importance of standing for the Lord in the Pagan World we live in today and we will do that by looking at the Prophet Elijah.
A central character in 1 Kings 18 is the Prophet Elijah.
Elijah lived at a time when God's people were in a Spiritual drought and a Physical Drought.
In 1 Kings 18 we have a scene on Mount Carmel in the land of Israel.
On Mount Carmel stood Elijah the lonely prophet who was addressing God's people.
God's people, the Israelites had been caught up in idolatry and they began to worship false gods and Elijah calls them to make a choice.
Elijah wanted the Israelites to make their decision, either to follow and serve the true God or to follow and serve Baal, the false god of the weather.
Behind the false god Baal, was Satan and the Israelites had to choose between either the one true God or the false gods of Satan.
It's the same today isn't it. Every person has to make a decision. We either choose to serve the one true God or the gods of our age.
In Elijah's day there was a climate crisis in his country, a drought which lasted for 3.5 years and the drought was affecting the land of Israel.
Now at the heart of Israel's climate crisis was the sin of the nation as well as the prayers of Elijah.
Unfortunately, the Nation of Israel had been influenced by a corrupt King and Queen and their promotion of false gods and idols.
The nation of Israel was called to be a witness but as a whole they were failing in their witness.
As you look at Elijah's ministry you see how God prepares him over a number of years for the battle he would have Mount Carmel.

This is our new series on Esther called the Hidden Hand series. In this book the providence of God is manifested all through it. Even with the removal of Vashti, and the new Queen to come Esther. We consider our topic under these headings 1) A King and His Queen, 2) Preparation for a New Queen, and 3) The Way Opened for a New Queen. It was all worked out in God's providence. As always I claim no originality but will quote, cite, refer, etc to various sources including Cain, Duguid, Orlund, Carson, Baldwin, and Gregory.
