In this message, we learn about a multilayered view of the preservation of a Christian's gifted prosperity, and how Christ is the one who ultimately protects and equips us.

Throughout all the time of Abraham's life from the calling of God for him to leave his family and home and follow, he knew the blessing of God upon his life. There was nothing that God withheld from Abraham; and Abraham trusted God with everything he possessed, even unto his sacrificial obedience regarding Isaac… He had his difficulties and he had his foolishness. There were times of obstinacy, of impatience of outright rebellion, but still God remained faithful and continued to bless Abraham because of the promise and his own desire… this is the heart of our own salvation… for we are blessed, we are saved upon the same grounds. God has promised and God desires to save the people He has chosen for his own inheritance. So let us consider what it means to be blessed by God, and learn to delight in our inheritance as the people of God!

The Christian lives in a perilous world, and yet is safe. How is this? In Psalm 91 we see the peril that surrounds the believer, the Protector who watches over us, and the promise that he has made.

B.l.— The health and comfort of the church depends on the Lord's providential blessing and protection.

The stories we tell ourselves shape us. They shape our identity, our expectations, and our focus. If we tell ourselves, "I am unsafe; I am unclean; I am unable," we will be paralyzed by fear. On the other hand, merely adding positive thinking leads to pride and presumption. The problem with both is they are rooted in self. Psalm 18 shows us a third way – a way not rooted in self but in the saving work of God. David's praise teaches us to say, "Because I am in Jesus Christ, I am safe, I am clean, I am able.

These 4 Psalms written by King David help us see a man who embraces the fact that God knows him completely. And he acknowledges in his writings that God has protected him, and will lead him in every situation and circumstance of his life. It is as if we, the reader, are allowed to see into the heart & soul of King David through his personal journal. What David is expressing in these psalms could also be our words today. Many times we feel the pain & adversity that come in this life. It is through our pursuit of God, our creator, during these difficult times, that ultimately leads us to restoration and fullness through a relationship with Christ, the source of meaning and purpose for our lives today.

The reaction to persecution; The raising of the threat level; The resisting of the plans.

In the midst of Paul reflecting on how he had handled himself while living and serving in Ephesus and the surrounding area, Paul issues some direct orders to these Elder themselves. Personally, it would involve careful and cautious and deliberate direction in their own lives by remaining focused on the goal. And then it involved protection and direction to God's flock under their care. Bring the flock into safe spiritual harbor. When the storms rage it is important to remain on course keeping a lifelong focus on the prize. Philippians 2:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
