2 Kings 5:1-4" Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel."

This message is about Paul's testimony before King Agrippa.

The Great Commission is a crucial element of Christianity, and every member of the Church must participate in it fully. Jesus commissioned His followers to persuade others to believe in Him, and persuasion plays a vital role in this mission.
Regrettably, some believers have been persuaded by God's enemies to believe that their efforts to share the gospel are insignificant, that learning how to share their testimonies and God's message is not worth the inconvenience or discomfort of talking to others.
The failure of the church at Sardis, one of the seven churches addressed by Jesus in the New Testament, serves as an example of the consequences of neglecting the Great Commission. The church was warned that it had become spiritually dead and needed to repent and rekindle its zeal for the gospel message.
The New Testament church is at the center of this spiritual warfare, as its commission from Jesus Christ makes it the most significant institution in the world. If believers do not actively engage in persuading others to believe, they are neglecting their obligation to participate in this spiritual battle.

Every day and perhaps every time we talk, we are persuading others to think like we do. We persuade others by offering answers to questions, by challenging flaws in other ideas, and by explaining why an idea is better than others. All these things have one thing in common. That one thing is rationality. Second Corinthians 5:11, "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences." We should persuade with answers to questions seekers ask, with reasonable answers, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. God is willing and able to do His part. The question is whether we are willing.

Paul is toward the end of his second missionary journey as he arrives in Corinth, a place he will stay for a year and a half. He arrives in Corinth in weakness and fear. Although initially alone, God provides great encouragement through ministry partners, financial assistance, new converts, safety, and much fruitful ministry. How does all this relate to believers today? What can we take away as points of application from Paul's ministry in Corinth? Answering these questions is the goal of this message.

After being beaten and imprisoned in Philippi, Paul and his companions move on to Thessalonica and Berea. Paul's method for sharing the gospel of Christ is made evident in this passage. Although much opposition and persecution were experienced, the gospel went forth in power and many believed. Quite evidently, the Macedonian churches were forged in the fire of suffering. Not only do we learn about the foundations of the early church in this passage, but we also discover many ways to apply what happened then to our churches today.
How would the Apostle Paul speak to a group of people who belittle facts and logic; who usurp faith and logic with feelings and emotions? Scripture has an answer, which just so happens to agree with (of all people), Aristotle.

In this podcast, we discuss the truth found in 2nd Corinthians5.

Acts 26:1-29 -- Christianity on Trial
Paul defends the Christian faith before King Agrippa and the Roman Governor Festus, and the two men find that it is actually them that are on trial for their rejection of Christianity

How should apologetics really be used in the Christian life? Should our main focus simply be to convince people they are wrong?

Susquehanna Valley Baptist - 2 Corinthians 5:6-15
In these last days the world systems seems to dominate the minds and outlook of believers. "Can't" seems to be the optimal word. Yet the advance of the gospel must occur. God's coming judgment is a great motivator for His saints.

John wrote his Gospel so that you might find the blessing of real life through faith in Jesus Christ!

Joshua 24:1 (KJV) And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
Joshua 24:15 (KJV) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

[11] Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. [12] We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about that is in the heart. [13] For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. [14] For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; [15] and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. ESV

Knowing the Lord is to be feared, the Apostle Paul tells us his method in preaching and promoting the Gospel is to not to force but to persuade. What a contrast to false religions. He appeals to the God-given conscience within us, using gentle arguments, giving reasons for us to repent and turn unto God.

Romans 4
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
