I have set before you an open door.

Today we hear the both encouraging and sobering conclusion of our look at Jesus's statement that He is the One Who opens and shuts, as told to the church in Philadelphia in Revelation 3.

Study of the Canons of Dort. 3rd and 4th main heads of doctrine. 1618-1619. Articles 11:
Moreover, when God carries out this good pleasure in the elect, or works true conversion in them, God not only sees to it that the gospel is proclaimed to them outwardly, and enlightens their minds powerfully by the Holy Spirit so that they may rightly understand and discern the things of the Spirit of God, but, by the effective operation of the same regenerating Spirit, God also penetrates into the inmost being, opens the closed heart, softens the hard heart, and circumcises the heart that is uncircumcised. God infuses new qualities into the will, making the dead will alive, the evil one good, the unwilling one willing, and the stubborn one compliant. God activates and strengthens the will so that, like a good tree, it may be enabled to produce the fruits of good deeds.

Jesus told believers in Philadelphia He is the one who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. As we exposit this statement, we find ourselves looking at Christ's parables and see that it even ties back to Abraham.

What are the Keys of the Kingdom
Preaching Opens the Kingdom
Preaching Closes the Kingdom

Perception is a powerful tool. It can be used to either encourage or discourage. God has promised that He alone opens and shuts doors but the enemy will try his best to make it look like a door has closed, don't be fooled. Keep on keeping on until God moves you, you'll know when the time is.

Main Point
Jesus preserves His people.

Shiloh Missionary Baptist - Deuteronomy 28:12-24; Psalm 78:23-25
When heaven opens, expect powerful things to happen.

God rules in heaven and earth, not in part and not at times but in all things and at all times. From His throne in heaven He rules the created world and the world of men. Men of the Old and New Testament testify to believing in God's absolute and sovereign dominion. It's a fearful and detestable thing to those in free-will Christendom. It's the source of comfort to those resting in God's Sovereign Grace.

Fellowship is our responsibility to challenge each other to holiness.
a. Fellowship opens the door to know what each of us need (Psalm 41:1-10; Pss 16, 34, 40, 63).
b. Fellowship reveals how much each of us are suffering injustice in the world (Prov 29:7-11).
c. Fellowship serves as a basis by which tangible needs are met. (Acts 11:29)
d. Fellowship builds the connections we have with other believers (Romans 12:15-18).
i. Thinking carefully produces a personal connection with other believers.
i.i. Thinking carefully produces harmony among the church.
-We do not think more highly of ourselves than we thought.
-We do not think we know more than others but listen to all.
-We do not entertain evil but give honor to others.
-We do not seek our own way but give of ourselves for one another.

At the end of 1 Timothy Paul cries out to Timothy, “Oh Timothy, guard what was committed to your trust.” With this admonition in mind we have started to look at some of the doctrines that God has said were required. When these doctrines are discarded or even forgotten, the message of salvation is lost. The first was the knowledge of who Jesus really is--the son of God, the promised Messiah, and the last Adam. This tied into what He did on the cross. He was our representative and as that representative, He paid for our sins. It was a complete payment that pleased God and saved those who believe to the uttermost. He was raised from the dead to show the reality of God’s acceptance of the sacrifice. This sign was also a guarantee that God would judge the world in righteousness. One day everyone will stand in front of the LORD Jesus and every knee will bow. The resurrection gives proof of the fact that what God has said will in fact happen. It leaves the world with a question, what will you do with Jesus? God will hold each individual accountable and only in Jesus is there forgiveness. Today we want to look at another doctrine that is clearly taught in Scripture and is to be guarded. It is the doctrine of Scripture and the question of how we hear.

Do you need to know the original language of Scripture in order to understand it or is it a closed Book until the LORD pleases to open eyes? What happened to this city of Tyre which was described as a 'harlot'? What happens the harder you work? Why is such prosperity bought low so quickly? How did this destruction happen?

As the kings cupbearer, Nehemiah had proven himself faithful and dependable. When the king sees the sadness on his face, and identifies his broken heart - he asks Nehemiah what he can do for him. The wise man of God has prayed, prepared, and planned just for this opportunity.

Bethany Free Presbyterian - Revelation 12:10-17
The bible has a lot to say about the mouth. The earth’s mouth is looked at and in particular the earth opening up her mouth.
Rev. Ken Elliot looks at this under three main headings
TO RECEIVE THE CRUELTY OF THE FOE
TO RECEIVE THE BLOOD OF A FAITHFUL MARTYR
TO RECEIVE A REBELLIOUS COMPANY
