Pastor teaches his family a selection from "the Proverb of the day." In this verse of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that even God's good gifts can be misused in a way that makes a fool of us and abuses us, which defaces God's image in us.
In Proverbs 21:22-26, we will learn the advantages of wisdom characterized by victory, security, and generosity while realizing the disadvantage of folly, arrogance, and laziness, which results in death.
Pastor leads his family in a selection from "the Proverb of the day." In these six verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the only believers can have true wisdom, and it always benefits them; but, unbelievers can only heap judgment upon themselves.
Wine — Some Thoughts on Drinking
There's a pretty good chance that what we glamorize our children will idolize...
That beer and wine, is not worth it! That liquor or self medicating, or anything of that nature, ain't worth glamorizing. Because nothing is worth idolizing. Give your children something better to rely upon and something far greater to find hope in. They know WHY you turn to it... they're not ignorant nor innocent to your motives. Don't set them up nor provide them with a stage to display your folly in the days ahead. I encourage you, show them NOW, where you are, that they don't need it to have fun, or to cope with life or to escape the pain of disappointments and let downs or to relax after a busy and stressful day.
Drinking has never solved (moderate consumption may help manage one) a single problem but it's super good at adding more sorrow to your sorrow (Proverbs 23:29-35). You can't expect the Lord to give you real solutions and wisdom for living, if you're depending on alcohol to fix your problems. You're smarter than that... and you know it. What you surrender to the Lord, in faith, not what you say you surrender to the Lord, but what we surrender to Him and seek first from Him, in an area of our lives, He get's involved in. I need Him...

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Pastor leads his family in a verse from "the Proverb of the day." In this Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that whether it's by wine removing our inhibitions so that we become a mockery, or strong drink removing our senses so that it's like we've been knocked out, alcohol can become a means by which we cease to operate in the fear of the Lord, and lose all true wisdom.
Being filled with the Spirit making sober choices is what the Christian is commanded to do, never the less we should not try to explain away the fact that Bible does not prohibit wine. We spend time in the conversation of whether it was real alcohol or the amount it or one can have before being intoxicated. This argument will continue on just as other things that are questionable but the disciple trying to grow in the body of Christ knows to continue to be filled with the spirit.
We're seeing here where drunkeness causes Ephraim to lose their inheritance, just as the New Testament tells us such shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. This could be both literal and figurative drunkness (physical, spiritual). They had gone into golden calf worship, all the true priest had migrated to Judah. There was plenty of false doctrine circulating.
Remain always mindful that Christ is coming!
We are living in the last days before Christ's return. (v.1-2)
Scoffers will scoff. (v.3-4)
All the power is in God's Word and promise. (v.5-7)
Applying: What Christian teaching is mocked by the world?
How suddenly will Christ return? Luke 17:28-30.
Who dares to mock God? Jeremiah 17:15
What role does the command of God have? 2 Cor.1:18-20
