Jacob saw a preincarnate appearance of Jesus. The face he saw was the face of God. We will discuss some implications of this truth and see some reasons why the exact appearance of the face of Jesus remains unknown to us, today.

God became man in this text. Jesus wrestled with Jacob. And this is a Pre-incarnate version of what Jesus did when He stooped to our level, without sin, to become Man and die for man's sins. We see the personality of Jesus in this text.
Who loves God? How can you know? "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
Because of the atonement that was made at Calvary has a promise to stand in the presence of God. When that veil was rent, He did not do away with that Holiest of Holies, but He made us be able to gain access. We don't have to wait until we get to heaven to sit in heavenly places.
In our study, we enjoyed a (day after) Christmas in July (the 26th) service and after some Christmas songs and current events, we read Scriptures related to the Incarnation in which God became Man in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah of Israel and Saviour of all who will believe.

It is Jesus Who met Jacob at Beth-el. Jesus meets us wherever we are when we call on His name for salvation with faith in His Gospel. And Jesus remains the same as He was the day you met Him!

Our Lord and Savior went to the garden of Gethsemane to face the Betrayer and conquer his foes and ours. He did this willingly and gloriously. In this chapter we also see that by the same word spoken to the Election of Grace and the wicked, the people of God are blessed and the wicked are condemned. What power and grace our Lord showers upon his people for Christ's sake.
Sometimes when we hear things, we don't hear what is said. What we hear is what we want to hear. What we hear is what we think they are trying to say to us. Could we be so foolish to do that to God. God in His mercy has still allowed us to hear the word of God. Hard time is coming let us tend to the things in the house of God.
God's creation makes it known to everyone that He is the creator and is to be worshiped (general revelation). But we deny God and worship ourselves or creation. What we need is to experience His invisible attributes expressed clearly seen in His workmanship because if we fail to, we are without excuse. And because all are without excuse we urgently need to share the full gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
"No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away." Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but
they could not reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you." But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it." (ESV)
Jesus changed the water into wine at a wedding and in so doing signified that the new has come. Jesus brings in the new order with His coming. The time of the fulfillment of the Mosaic Law has come to a close as Jesus fulfilled the Law. In this first sign recored in John, we learn much about Jesus and that which is important to Jesus. But we also are pointed toward eternity.
