We are coming to our 3rd look at the beginning of Genesis. This book is not only the beginning of the Christian Bible, but is also the beginning of our faith, and of our knowledge of God. In the first verse it showed us that God is eternal, outside of time itself. He is the only one not created, the self-existent almighty God. This self-existent God reveals His power in creating. He shows His knowledge, desire, and power in creating with words all that is. This makes it His and allows us to looks with God-colored glasses as we gaze at creation. We see the fall of man and the curse of the earth, but we also see in incredible beautiful creation that is beyond our understanding both in the make-up of individual cells and in the expanse of the heavens. Join us as we look into further into creation.

In this continuation of our study of the 'literal principle,' we consider how to respect Scripture's use of figurative language and how to avoid the extremes of hyper-literalism and allegorism.

Many approach the Bible in all kinds of strange and mystical ways. But as we study the "literal" principle of hermeneutics, we consider the importance of letting the Bible speak for itself, respecting it as literature, and reading it for what it plainly says.

When studying how to correctly interpret the Bible, the history of Biblical hermeneutics can be extremely insightful. Truth matters, and history shows how today's interpretations will determine the state of the tomorrow's church.
