Justification - The Justified Is Driven By The Spirit --- Gal 3:1-5 INTRODUCTION (v1) THE JUSTIFIED RECEIVES THE SPIRIT (v2) a. The law demands, but the gospel grants. b. Gal 4:6. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" c. Gal 4:6 + Gal 2:20  Christ lives in us through the Spirit.  Remember who you are. 1 Cor 6:19-20. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.  Unbelievers, have you confessed that the crucified Jesus is your Lord? 1 Cor 12:3. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. THE JUSTIFIED GROWS BY THE SPIRIT (v3-4) a. The law condemns, but the gospel inspires. b. Gal 5:25. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. c. Gal 5:18 + Gal 5:22  Christ's life of obedience reflected in our lives.  Remember who you lived for. THE JUSTIFIED SERVES BY THE SPIRIT (v5) a. The law hinders, the gospel equips. b. 1 Cor 12:11. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. c. 1 Cor 12:11 + 1 Cor 12:7  Christ's gifts to us through the Spirit for His church.  Remember who you use your gifts on. CONCLUSION

As we begin to study the doctrine of justification, we take a detour in order to study the law of God. Justification has much to do with the law, and it's critical to understand what the law can and cannot do. In this study, we look at the three divisions of the law of God as revealed by God to Moses.

The forgiveness of sins is one of the most foundational teaching for our faith.

Christ Jesus is the record of God. He embodies and fulfills the gracious will and purpose of God to save a people for himself. Christ was sent of the Father to justify and sanctify his people. This he accomplished through the cross. Because of Christ's accomplished redemption, the Lord reveals three powerful witnesses made effectual in the hearts of his people. John calls these witnesses in the earth, the Spirit, the water and the blood. These three agree in one that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ of God. He died, was buried and raised again by the power of God. These three witnesses describe the record of God powerfully revealed in his people by the Spirit, who are blessed to receive the witness of the scriptures and the gospel preached by the blood-redeemed church. You that believe, do so by the grace of God. Through these witnesses, God continues to reveal the accomplished salvation of Christ in the hearts of his chosen, redeemed elect.

The Doctrine of Election Chap. 8. pt 8

James writes to encourage each one to examine the activity of his faith to determine that it is genuine and active. Each one needs to examine himself to determine if his or her faith is genuine and active. Your faith is genuine, but only active and meaningful in your life and others' lives as you live out your faith. Recognize that God's favor to bestow forgiveness of sins and salvation comes only through believing in Jesus Christ.
