Ezekiel had a hard message to deliver to his own people. It was hard in that it was a warning of imminent judgment. This was not a maybe. This judgment was coming due to the persistent sins of the people. The time for delay was over.

One of the most famous stories told about Elisha, and the floating Axe Head. This miracle has so many meanings, and tonight we will just consider is our Axe Head missing, and have we asked God for His help?

In Isaiah 44:9-23, we are shown 2 components of idolatry and those who make idols.
I. The reality of idolatry and idol makers is full of irony and folly.
A. Idol makers delight in their work and expect profit, but they only gain
open shame (vs. 9-11).
B. Idol makers require tools (vs. 12, 13) and their strong arm fails (v. 12).
C. Idol makers create in their own image (v. 13).
D. Idol makers depend on trees created and sustained by God (v. 14).
E. Idol makers worship God's gifts rather than God Himself (vs. 15-17).
F. Idol makers think they see and understand but God has shut their hearts
and eyes, so they have no wisdom (vs. 18-20).
II. The consequences of idolatry and idol makers must be remembered by God's
people, for Yahweh says:
A. You are my servant, and I will not forget you (v. 21).
B. I have blotted out your sin (v. 22a-b).
C. You must repent if you commit idolatry (v. 22c).
D. Even creation sings because God's glory is displayed in His salvation
The position of all unbelievers is frequently pictured in God's Word as being like a prisoner. Trapped and unable to get out. Only a Sovereign work of God will bring us out of darkness and the shadow of death. Christ alone brakes the bars of brass, to free us from sin and its penalty.
Nebuchadnezzar needed to know that he was not that great. He needed to know he was under God's supervision. His life was in God's hands. His kingdom was not his. It would end. God's kingdom is eternal.
Today we're taking a closer look at the twenty-seventh chapter of the Book of Proverbs.

Christian fellowship is vital to the health of individuals and the church. We need to be with each other, just as God chose to be with us at creation and Christ selected disciples to work with Him. We are told to consider, thoughtfully, how to stir one another up in love and good works--together. But we can't do that if don't want to 'bother' others or think we don't need help. Rather, let us commune together and all the more as we see the day approaching so that we can build the body of Christ so that the world knows Christ through our unity.
