In order for Jesus to save His people from their sins, He had to be a perfectly righteous man and a divine Person.

Who is the Christ-King? Matthew 1:18–24 looks forward to the morning sermon on the coming Lord's Day. In these seven verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the Christ-King is God Himself, Who came to save His people from their sins.

Immanuel, "God with us", embodies and fulfills all of the names of God we've introduced in every prior lesson on the names of God. Immanuel, revealed prophetically by Isaiah in Isaiah 7.14, was explained by Matthew in the New Testament as the reason Mary and Joseph should name their son Yeshua (Salvation-Jesus) because he will save his people from their sins. Yes, God Himself, became Immanuel and dwelt among us. The question answered in this last teaching on the Names of God is - Can God Do Anything? If yes, then God can become a man. This then is the message of the New Testament in a sentence - God can, and did, became man and through the death of this God-Man, believers have everlasting life.

In this session we look at the overriding message of the first half of Isaiah. Man rebels and God stands with two hands outstretched. The first is a hand of judgment for man's choice to refuse and rebel against God. While at the same time God stands with another hand outstretched asking men and women to come back and to choice to consent and obey the Word of God - the ultimate picture of God's Grace!

What hope is there against great enemies and even against our own sin? Isaiah 7:1–9:7 looks forward to the first serial reading in morning public worship on the coming Lord's Day. In these fifty-four verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that Christ alone is the forever-King Who is righteous before God and redeems a remnant whom He makes righteous like Himself.

In this study we take a look at the meaning, the method, and the reasons for the incarnation.

In Isaiah 7&8 the LORD tells Ahaz not to covenant with the evil leaders around you but trust the Lord God of Hosts.  In fact, Jehovah gives Ahaz an unprecedented opportunity.  Ahaz can ask for any sign he can imagine and Jehovah will give it to him, but Ahaz is an idiot and says, No!  He even uses the verse in Deuteronomy that instructs us not to tempt (test) the LORD as his out.  Nevertheless, the LORD gives Ahaz the sign of HIS choosing.  The LORD will send an anointed child born of a virgin to vanquish Judah's enemies and establish God's kingdom through this one called Immanuel, God with us. This lesson covers the mystery of Immanuel and what it meant then and what it means to us today.
