We will suffer tribulations as long as we are in the world. Paul writes to believers who live in a very wicked environment, such as we live in today. We will suffer, but God has promised to keep and comfort us in all our trials.

Paul teaches about the two-fold way in which other people leave the faith, either by theological error or by refusing to listen to the instruction of the Lord's teachers.

The church HOLDS UP and DISPLAYS the Truth in two specific ways: First by holding fast to the teaching about Christ and His gospel and second, by living in a manner worthy of this glorious gospel! If EITHER of these fall away, the church is worthless, especially when one uses TRUTH to exercise REBELLION.

Week 119 Gospel of John

God has a love for HIs elect alone and sent Jesus to die for them in order that He would save them and justify them.

Even Jesus' brothers had no saving faith in him. They desired to see Jesus become like them instead of being counted in Christ.

Jesus teaching was hard to hear, listen to, stomach, understand, and believe. Why? Because they had not been given to Him by the Father.

Abiding in Jesus Christ. This is the work of God.

Jesus continues to show that feasting on Him is faith. Nothing more is necessary because He has accomplished all the work of salvation.

God's effectual gospel includes the truth that he teaches His people of Christ through Christ, that is the Word of God. No one can come unless the father draws and ALL that the father draws will come and be raised to life.

Putting to death the flesh is a difficult thing to grasp. It is all enveloped in the finished work of Jesus Christ who not only died to sin but made us alive in Him.

limited atonement is the gospel of grace, there is no question.

We are dead to sin because Christ has died and we are alive in Christ. Learn this and live more abundantly.

The multitude ran after Jesus and found His rebuke. Many claim to be running to Jesus and yet they are lost, utterly, with no life in them.

Seeing the multitude follow after Christ doesn't give us a picture of regenerate people longing after their Messiah, but rather religious people longing after their own fleshly desires.

Jesus proves over and over that He is God, yet man continues to come to Him in human terms and with fleshly conditions.

Jesus is the bread, the lamb, and the fulfillment of all the shadows of old.

What constitutes as evidence of our righteousness? How can one truly know if they are justified before God? This text reveals the actuality of the gospel of Jesus as the effectual hope of the believer, not the works of the flesh, ever.

What should the church look like, be doing, and how do we know when she's biblical?

The pastoral affection Paul has for the church reveals that the gospel produces intimacy as well as affection. It also produces the glorious reflection of the glory of God; Christ, and His body.

Ministry names many things these days but what does Scripture say about true ministry? What should taking the evangel look like? Paul shows us by his own life, ours should look and learn and live!

Is the resurrection weak? If not, then how does the church see and live in the power of Christ's resurrection? This is not your Easter service, but a continuation of the text of 1 Thess revealing that Christ being raised from the dead is indeed the gospel.
