As we gather in the morning we will finish our look at the "end times", last days by finding encouragement from 1 Thessalonians 5.1-11. This text helps us look at the times we live in from an honest, truthful perspective. As we view reality and see God's power to save us we find great encouragement. This encouragement is not "fake" and does not ignore reality, but helps us find real comfort in Jesus Christ during these last days. Be in church Sunday morning for this rich text! We are working to fix last week's sound problem and will reload the sermon when we are finished. Chapter 20 of The Revelation of Christ to John and the Churches gives us assurance that the time is coming when all the nations will know what a righteous king acts like. It also fulfills God's promises to Israel to repossess their land under the rulership of David's Son (the Messiah) as He literally and physically reigns over all the nations from David's throne. There are several different ways that many churches have interpreted the millennial kingdom throughout different points in history. What we are doing in this brief interlude between Revelation 19 & 20 is comparing these different interpretations to see the major differences between them, and to see which one is most consistent with the Scriptures. Many teachers say that they interpret the Scriptures in a Grammatical-Historical sense (it says what it means and means what it says and is built and recorded in actual history). Yet when it comes to prophecy, they have a glaring inconsistency in their method of interpretation. The recorded history forces them to interpret the prophecies about Jesus' first coming literally. But the prophecies concerning Jesus' second coming are interpreted metaphorically, or allegorically. This and other distinctions have a significant impact on the blessed hope of Israel and of the nations (the gentiles). It impacts our view of evangelism, our remaining time on earth, our understanding of many scriptures (such as Psalm 2), and our confidence in God's Word.

Sermon #1 - Revelation Chapter 1 (Jesus Revealed) of the 2023 Revelation Series. Pastor Randy kicked off his sermon series; he emphasized that the book of Revelation is all about the events leading up to and including the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the culmination of our present age. Of the 404 verses in Revelation, 278 of them are direct references or allusions to Old Testament Scripture; therefore, it is evident that John expected his readers to have a full understanding of the OT prophecies related to the end times. Pastor Randy also emphasized that most of Revelation is yet future and that the key to its understanding is found in Rev. 1:19, which lays out the three-fold natural outline of the book.

Pastor JD offers a word of encouragement to those who are filled with fear concerning the many "what if's" in this, the last hour, prior to the pre-trib rapture.

After our summer break, we look back over some of the key highlights we learned in the past two years studying Daniel's prophecies and how they relate to end-times events in Revelation.

One of our problems as Christians in America is that our Christianity doesn't COST US anything. Instead of believing and accepting what Christ said about how we will suffer and be persecuted as His disciples and followers in this evil world, instead of taking up our own personal cross daily, and being intimately associated with the sufferings of Christ in our lives, we bend over backward in America to be accommodating to our family, friends, and to the world. This…. Because WE HAVE counted the cost of following Christ, and the cost is more than we are willing to pay, so, we capitulate and exchange our Christianity for "a religion" that costs us nothing…. no suffering shame for the gospel, no cross to bear, and no persecution or dealing with those that hate us because we love Christ! Child of God, that's not Christianity!

What does the return of Christ mean?

It's easy to get caught up with what's right in front of us. Some are smart enough to make that mostly work, but the view from above reveals all the problems in our thinking!
