We see three points in this sermon: 1. Goodness of Jesus as seen in verse 5 of the text. The church had been a thriving church for many years with Paul teaching, then Timothy. This church had been blessed for many years, then it became a loveless sinful church. 2. Goodness in encouraging us. God knows us and is with us. Through all our faults & sins, Jesus encourages us to keep on through our life's journey. 3. Jesus goodness with promises. Throughout Scriptures we are encouraged by the many promises God gives us.
There are contrasts of rewards and ways to obtain them. ! To the one who conquers & repents there is the reward of eternal life. 2. Sin has consequences: we must repent. For we see the way to Hell is the way of justice & what we deserve. The way to heaven gives us the reward of eternal life.
Jesus' goodness is everywhere. He raises us up to eternal life.
