"Jonah knows what he has to do – he has to go to Nineveh, and the climax of this heart-changing literally near-death experience is at the end of verse 9 when he says, Salvation belongs to the Lord! The wayward prophet now accepts that God can save whoever He wants to, whenever He wants to, however He wants to. If He wants to extend mercy to the pagan Assyrians at Nineveh, that's His divine prerogative and Jonah's opinion is of no concern to the Lord. He's not asking anyone who He should save. Romans 9:15 says I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. So Jonah's calling to Nineveh then is really a picture of God's sovereign mercy, and these five words--salvation belongs to the Lord--are the central theme of the book and friends they are the preeminent point of the entire Bible – all of redemptive history--salvation belongs to the Lord!"

The temple in Jerusalem would be desecrated by the presence of the advancing Roman armies in AD70. In the very last days, the holy place - the church - will also be defiled by worldly idols and images.

The parable of The Wheat and Tares is the second parable that Jesus explains to His disciples. In it, Jesus contrasts the wheat and the tares, the householder and the enemy, the final end of both in the fire and the grainery. Where do we go when we experience difficulty, when undergo painful, fearful and troubling circumstances? Where do our souls go? Where do you go when the weary wilderness of the world simply overwhems you? We will look at it in 3 Sections. 1st - The seeking soul satisfied in God. (verses 1-5) 2nd - Further Seeking leading to peace and confidence. (verses 6-8) 3rd - The glory of God's Justice. (verses 9-11)

The Son of Man both prevailed over severe obstacles for us, and blazed the path for us.

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him,....

When afflicted and feeling rejected by God, we should pray for His deliverance as He has delivered us before for the sake of His steadfast love.
