Alternative title: Pressing On With Our God
And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.
Everything we've seen from Jesus' betrayal and arrest, His unjust condemnation, to His humiliation and suffering at the cross—all of this might suggest that Jesus has been defeated by His enemies. But this text reveals that this could not be farther from the truth!
Is God our Savior? It depends on your definition of saving. A lot of things depend on your definition of saving. Being rescued means you're in trouble and God delivers you from that trouble. But if your concept of trouble and your idea of what it means to be saved from it don't line up with God's definitions, then you will find yourself very disappointed with God, and you might miss real salvation altogether.
Why, when the church has fought about issues of all kinds, do we have 37 verses on the fabric and frame and furniture of the tabernacle, but no chapter on church government or the mode of baptism or the advisability of contraception? Brothers and sisters, God's ways are not our ways. God wanted to come and live with Israel, and all this material on His dwelling place is here because, well, it's His dwelling place and He cares what it's like. I daresay all of you spend a lot of time on and in your home. You don't talk about it much because you've found that most people really don't care about how you wired that snazzy new outlet or what color you painted your bathroom. But rather than the Almighty saying "Well, people don't care about my home so I won't say anything about it," His attitude is "People should care about my home." The most important point in this part of Exodus is that God has come down to dwell with us, and He did it first by moving into the tabernacle as a prefiguration of the day when the Word would become flesh and tabernacle among us. We will see that God came and tabernacled among His people, but the quadruple-thick covering under which He dwelt emphasized His inaccessible holiness.
Such simplicity here, such profundity! The Messiah dies. There are two signs—a darkened sky and a torn curtain. There is one death, the last words and the last breath of Christ as he entrusts himself in his dying moment to his beloved Father. There are three reactions, from a stunned soldier, from a troubled crowd, and from the watching disciples. We, too, should linger at this scene, and consider who it is who dies.
The doorways of the tabernacle (the veil and screen) communicated that access to the holy God had been sealed off, but that He was providing a way through, a way that would be superseded by the new and living way: the flesh of Jesus Himself.
The Universe is massive beyond words and for that very reason serves as the perfect covering for a God who is beyond our understanding and ability to describe.

In this message, we have part 64 of our Urgent Gospel series on Mark, here chapter 15: 33-41. Here, we look at 1) The Fearsome Darkness that Came, and 2) Christ Forsaken on the Cross, and 3) The Great Wall of Separation is Gone! As always, I claim no originality but will quote, cite, refer, etc to various sources including; Sproul, Hendriksen, Strauss, Edwards, and many others.

Putting something together...
INTRO TO THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST (we explore some great truths in 2 Thessalonians 2 and 3 in this message)
First thing we should do when putting something together is get the instructions out and verify we all the pieces and parts and tools we need to put it together.
Don't you hate it when you get to the end of a project and realize it's missing the key piece that brings it all together. Too many are neglecting the instructions on life and don't realize they're missing the key piece that brings it all together.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty (over today, yesterday and forevermore)" (Revelation 1:8).
"The ALPHA and OMEGA... the ALMIGHTY"
Can I share what I hear, when I hear He's the Alpha and Omega? I hear, He had the first word over me, and He'll have the last. He made a promise of eternal life of me. And He cannot lie.
He, Who Cannot Lie (Titus 1:1-3)
God made a promise (a promise that covered the entire scope of eternal life before time began).
God manages His own promise (He manages it on both sides of time and performs it in time).
God manifested His promise in time (a promise that He made before time and managed through time to make good on His promise when time is no more).
God makes good on His promise both now and forever.
God's eternal salvation, in Christ Jesus, is everlasting. If ever saved, forever saved... for God's salvation is revealed in time, but it is in no wise limited by time nor is it limited by men, who are limited to time. His saving grace is granted, gu
