In these verses, separated by other events in the context, Jesus describes the terms of discipleship. As we study this together, we will identify the terms of discipleship presented by Jesus. Christ Followers: Examine Jesus's terms of discipleship against your following. Christ Seekers: Believe in Jesus, apart from works, to receive forgiveness of sins and salvation.
Jesus Christ is presently seated at the right hand of God the Father reigning over the nations. As the first century Christians were waiting for the new heavens and new earth to be ushered in by King Jesus, they were to do so as beloved children of God, with diligence to be without spot or blemish, with hope since God is patience, and with knowledge so they don't lose their stability.

Everywhere Jesus goes, division follows. The entirety of John 7 takes place at the Feast of Booths. The chapter ends with Jesus standing up in front of all the people and boldly pleading with the people to come to Him and He will quench their thirst. There is thirst in every human being and that thirst is there because mankind was made in the image of God and to be in relationship with God. Yet, there is division over how that thirst can be quenched.
This message is about how fear of death can hinder a Christian from doing the will of God and conversely how saints, through belief in the resurrection, accomplish much by embracing death as a possible outcome of serving God.
