The devil never changes his strategy. An object is presented for our consideration. Then while we gaze upon it and consider it, a desire is born in our heart for it. Then a plan is formed to obtain it. Then we obtain it. This is the natural order of things for the good and for the evil. The problem we have is with the desire. We allow the desire to take control of our mind, and truth and reality are shut out while we figure out a way to get what we want. This is our Achille's heal and the devil knows it very well. This is what the Bible is talking about when it says in James 1: "When lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin, and sin, when it is finished bringeth forth death." We must learn that if we are a true child of God, His desires come before ours.
The virgin birth of Jesus Christ is essential doctrine to who Christ is and why he is able to be our perfect sacrifice. Christ had to be fully man and fully God, yet without sin and therefore, could not be born from a man (Joseph) or he would be under the sin curse (nature) from Adam and the fall.
When the angel Gabriel told a young teenage girl named Mary that she would conceive the Son of God and Savior of the world, she responded with, "Let it be to me according to your word." She surrendered to God's plan rather than pursuing her own hopes and dreams of a normal, quiet life with Joseph. What can Mary teach us about waiting on the Lord's return with surrendered lives?
Leaving, Cleaving and Conceiving
"Be fruitful and multiply..." Genesis 1:28
Man needs a wombed woman and a wombed woman needs a man, which God provided, along with His blessings, that they may fulfill the command within the context He provided.
Man and his wombed woman are deceived and fall into sin. Their offspring are now tainted in every way with their sin, rebellion, and death.
Man begins to fulfill the command to be fruitful and multiply but his seed, which by design can only come through a wombed woman, starts diminishing, demoralizing, distorting, minimizing, or just plain neglecting God's context, God's command, and God's conditions, that He established from the beginning.
God had already answered and prepared His solution to this tragic movement toward man doing life the way it seemed best. He chose to show them grace... and more specifically redeeming grace through a promise that He would provide, redeem, rescue, and restore fallen men and women through the very context and command He provided for which we have diminished and demoralized.
I want to reiterate to you, as Moses reiterated to the people in his day, when he said, "A MAN shall leave his FATHER and MOTHER and be joined to his WIFE, and the two shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).
Why is this significant and fundamental to God and those who know and follow Him?
Because it takes us back to the original context, command, and conditions found in the garden that day. And because this picture of man and woman within God's context of marriage is directly related to th
"Word" signifies two things: conception and utterance. Before there is a word there is a thought, and before the word has any real meaning or effect it must be uttered. Jesus Christ is the very thought and utterance of Almighty God. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. God has spoken to us in these last days by his Son...by whom He made the worlds. (Hebrews 1:2) This is probably the most profound and powerful statement ever uttered on earth that declares Jesus as the Son of God, God incarnate. It is John's first words about Christ as he begins his Gospel.
A misuse of Scripture
There is a way that God vindicated a trial. we must learn the truth.
this is a church action. The case involves jealousy.
Here a woman is set before God, set before water which is santificted. This also points to Christ--remediation.
If found not guilty, the woman can conceive children.
Just because God does something, does not mean we can do the same thing.
this Chapter is about sin.
Last week we saw the end of Zacharias' prophecy. He had spent 10 months seeking to understand the message about his Son God. When he obeyed God's command to name the child John, his speech was restored to him and he immediately starts to prophecy. The Spirit leads him to focus on God and the coming Messiah. He praises and blesses God for the coming Salvation of Israel who would be God in the flesh. He also announces that his son would go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways. Joy and fear of the Lord fill the people's hearts and all who heard of these things, kept them in their hearts. The scene has been set for the Lord to come. Join us as we look at the birth of this promised child, who is Emmanuel, God with us.
Today we want to look at one of the most well-known scenes of the Christmas season. The angel Gabriel coming to Mary to announce the coming of Jesus. It is important to know what happened, but more than that, it is important to see who the angel announced is coming. Too many want Jesus to be a good teacher, a man of wisdom and love how He influenced the world, but that is not who He is. Join us as we listen to the angel tell Mary of the coming babe.
The Birth of Jesus Christ, was God's Greatest Gift to mankind. This Infinite Miracle flowed out of God's Triune Master Blue print, decreed from Eternity. That A Virgin shall Conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His Name Immanuel.
Romans 1 marks the path that leads to depravity and eternal death. Satan wages his battle in our minds and if we would survive his assaults and his deception we had better know how the mind works. This is a very important message full of truth that will help you more than anything else in this world in having victory in your own life, training your children, and seeing to their spiritual survival, and understanding what is going on in others around you.
Mary life of disrupted by Gabriel's message that she was going to be the mother of the Messiah, Jesus. She humbly surrendered to God's plan despite the costs. Are we prepared for God to disrupt our lives and will we humbly except His will?
The Lord sent an angel to tell Joseph why he should not be afraid to take Mary as his wife. So far from being a reproach, Mary's unexpected pregnancy was God's solution to His people's problem of sin. Jesus has come to save us!
