a. Purpose: In this session we will consider three points concerning the issue of compatibility i. Point 1: We need to be aware that sometimes people can over-exaggerate the claim of a couple's differences as the primary source of their problems. ii. Point 2: We need to pursue compatibility over biblical belief and practices instead of superficial similarities. iii. Point 3: We need to pursue biblical solutions for differences in relationship and marriage
Continuing in this series"Helps for the Home," this message is the third part of a message entitled "Getting Started Right" and covers the topic of Compatibility. Compatibility is to be determined before a courtship begins, not by a courtship. Listen to learn more.
II. Purpose: To encourage believers to find out what the other person believe and also to ensure you know and apply what you believe about God, the Bible, man, sin, Jesus, salvation and philosophy of relationship so that you will spiritually grow and practice discernment when it comes to courtship.
This text on marriage from the Word of God, here in the book of Hebrews, is very practical to us. Come and listen as we address several questions like these: Is sex in marriage shameful? Is sex outside of marriage sinful? Can all sorts of people marry? Is marriage still honorable for people who are in college and are not settled yet in their careers? How about for people who do not have a mature character? Is it honorable for people to marry if they are not compatible with each other, and are not each other's soulmate? Is marriage a burden, a kind of bondage, or a necessary evil? "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."
What is the essence of true love that holds marriages and families together and helps them grow closer even in the worst of times? What sustains our affection for one another when hurtful sins erupt in our relationships? This message is about what real love is and is not. Using 1 Corinthians 13, it shows you what real love always does to seek the benefit of others. It reminds you that enduring love is not something you "fall into" but rather something that you work at making for the rest of your life. We'll also explore hindrances to loving like Jesus and how we can see those obstacles removed in Christ.
