Paul identifies something which delights an apostle's heart, something which Philemon does, and something in which we can all engage.
The great work is that of refreshing the souls of the saints. It is done by brothers, motivated by love. It may be done by all, with gospel inventiveness. It produces great joy and consolation when we see the progress of Christian love and labour in the hearts and hands of God's people.a
Matt and Alan get back into the Gospel Community series as they explore the theme of the household of God in 1 Timothy.

You are trusting in Jesus alone (5:11-12)
We are all called by God to be servants, but what kind of servant are you? Phebe is called a sister first so she is a child of God and a member of a local church. Phebe also is a devoted servant to God's work, no matter what it may be. So we must ask ourselves are we as this woman is?
How do you feel when you're carrying a heavy burden? Are you tired of doing it all by yourself? Wouldn't it be nice if someone cared? See for yourself what God has planned for you. Bearing each others' burdens and pushing each other to do better will be illustrated in this message. Together we will open God's Word and find a better way!
The Bible shows us that our Father in Heaven is a God of grace.
Grace is blessings given freely and is never a result of work that was performed. You cant earn God's grace by any work that you have performed, or by any religious rite that you have undergone.
Charles Ryrie says. "Grace is: That which God does for mankind through his Son, which mankind cannot earn, does not deserve, and will never merit."
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.
Our father in Heaven is a God of both Grace and Mercy.
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Have you ever thought what the difference is between Grace and Mercy?
Mercy is God withholding from us the punishment we deserve. Because of our sin and rebellion each of us deserve Hell.
The good news of the Gospel is that God the Father withholds from us the punishment that we deserve because He sent His own Son to take the punishment for our sins upon Himself.
Grace is God giving us what we do not deserve. Grace is the unmerited favour of God to sinful humanity in providing the free gift of salvation for us.
The Younger son had been lost in the pigsty in a far country but the older son was also lost on the property of his father.
The younger son was out of relationship with his father in that distant land but the older son was out of relationship with the father on the Father's land.
Matt and Alan talk about a difficult one another as they finish 2 Thessalonians. Admonish one another. What does it look like to be motivated by love and patience with the goal of peace and restoration as we gently warn our brothers and sisters in Christ in a gospel community?
The younger and older brothers both needed to repent and come home. Discover how the sinful and religious persons both need forgiveness, and both can be accepted by the Father! Don't let religion get in the way of your relationship with God.
We are to renew our mind and put on the spirit of a new man. When we declare all people lie, we discredit our own honesty. When we declare all women are whores, we discredit all the Godly women in our lives.
