The prayer of Psalm 80 is for God to restore Judah to himself in His grace. They had turned away from Him and were suffering the consequences of their actions. But, they boldly approached His throne of grace and mercy hopeful that He would restore them to Himself. That is what our loving shepherd does.
Those who belong to Jesus have confidence on the day of judgment - why? - because as Jesus is. As Jesus is right now in heaven, so are we who belong to him right now in this world. God will never condemn Jesus. Jesus is our victorious and righteous High Priest. If God will never condemn Jesus, will he ever condemn those who flee to Jesus for refuge? No.
John says this confidence in the gospel will show up in our lives as we love one another.
Perfected love is complete love without encumbrances. This is how God loves and this is the love that God will perfect in our lives.
David trusted the Lord to bring the victory to His people. He went in the name of the Lord of host and beleived that He would be vicotirous. David had the boldness and courage to do the work before him. We must as well.
