Any claim of relationship with God the Father is disavowed if it's made through any other means other than through the Lord Jesus, whom he has sent. The Alleged Father (vs. 39-40) The Ideal Father (vs. 41-43) The Real Father (vs. 44-47)

Some go through life thinking they don't belong. Unaccepted and outsiders to the faith. But Paul tells the church at Ephesus, "Christ has made us accepted in the beloved". We need not be outsiders anymore, we are accepted by Him and in Him.

A church is not a club or a team, but it should know a sense of meaningful belonging. Those who hear, believe, and are baptised are brought into a distinct and defined body, bounded by believing and behaving, where duties, responsibilities, opportunities and liabilities all hold together. In the New Testament, we see this in the life of churches which can be counted, added to, officially and formally gather, choose leaders and representatives from among themselves, carry out discipline by vote, and observe the Lord's supper together.

The truth, God with us, connects with the storms of our lives. Pastor Michael Willard encourages using this truth from Acts 27.

YHWH is both interesting and gracious to provide for His people.

This is a special message from our Wednesday night service about how we belong to Jesus!

Our culture is obsessed with identities. We all want to choose our identity as it suites us and only include people like us while shunning those outside our group. But, how should a Christian identify? Christ gave us a new commandment, that we are to love has he loved and then told us that the world will identify us by our love for one another. We need to live into this new command and ensure we are loving our brothers and sisters so the world will know who we are and say, "see how these Christians love one another."

This week we take a quick break from our "A Theology of Forgiveness" sermon series to continue our teachings on "Basic Christianity." As a local body we had the great privilege of welcoming several new members to our congregation on this Lord's day. For many, however, church membership just isn't really all that important. In fact many aren't even sure if membership in a local church is biblical, let alone mandated. Do we still have a role to play in the church if we ourselves aren't pastors, elders, or musically inclined, to name but a few examples? Join us as we look to answer some of the fundamental questions on church membership and commitment to the local body of Christ. Have you ever wondered where you belong? Have you ever been lonely wishing there was a special place just for you? The need to belong is a basic human desire. We must know our place in the world, how we fit in. Have you ever asked, " Where do I belong?" WHO you belong to is more important that WHAT you belong to. If you are saved, you belong to God!

What manner of person are you? 1) You are loved 2) You Belong 3) You have hope 4) You have a perfect example 5) You have a perfect Word 6) You have been changed 7) You will be despised by others 8) You have been given the ear of God 9) You have one life to live for Christ.

The church as the body of Christ means that God has not called us to be Christians in isolation, but in relationship with each other. The church is not just a place where you come and go once in a while. The church is a body, and that is a deeper level of connection than a few mouse clicks on the weekend. A body does not do well when its members are not connected with one another. My fingers only work when connected with my hands and my hands with my arms and my arms to my body. The whole thing has to be vitally connected with the head. While in a large church, it's impossible to know everyone well, you should have a network of some with whom you go deeper than just saying a superficial "hello" on Sunday morning. The early church in Jerusalem is our model. We Americans tend to be individualistic but as Christians, we need to fight against this tendency. Yes, there is a sense in which each believer must bear his own load but there is another sense in which we must bear one another's burdens, because we are members of one another (Gal. 6:2, 5). The joy of belonging comes from our connection to the church as a body!

Detailing the significance of Jesus Christ's Death and Resurrection is an inexhaustible task as the depths of God's Word is explored.
