Sermon series on the topic of corporate worship and liturgy. (Sermon also includes the reading and exhortation from the Lord's Table liturgy) Ex 20:1-3 "And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 "You shall have no other gods before Me" Ex 24:1 Now He said to Moses, "Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. 2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him." 3 So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, "All the words which the Lord has said we will do."

We know we're supposed to fear God and love God—but enjoy Him? While the idea of enjoying God might strike some as odd or even inappropriate, this command to delight ourselves in God is central to the every command in Scripture. If we miss this, we miss it all.

The world is constantly pulling our hearts and minds away from God. However, God wants our affections to be set on heavenly things. This week, Pastor Zach explores what that means how we can glorify God with our affections.

As partakers of the divine nature the Holy Spirit now dwells within us, so we enjoy fellowship with God, and our lives reflect God's nature. For this experience to grow we need to grow in knowledge of God, we need to cling to God's promises, and we need new desires to drive out our sinful desires.

Theme: Live what you believe now by being ready for the coming Kingdom. In vv. 31-32, Jesus warns about the present "kingdom." People are either building their own little kingdom now or looking for the kingdom on earth. We need to set our affections on things above. In vv. 33-36, Jesus warns about the present "life." We must lose our life to find it. In application, we need to value our life in Christ. We have communion with God, have no fear of condemnation, are loved by God, have freedom in Christ, and have a living hope. Jesus also emphasizes individual accountability. Close proximity to a godly person means nothing at the judgment. In v. 37, He warns about the coming judgment. We need to be ready for the coming of Christ by living in a godly way and running the race with endurance.

Having been converted to Christ, a Christian now invests for eternity not for time. Paul urges us to elevate our thinking, our desires and aspirations. Fellowship with Christ and a focus on His kingdom will draw us up to Him. Leave the grave and the grovelling in earthly things. Christ is our new life.

God has designed the Body of Christ to need each other. Thus, this passage directs God's people to in humility, in community, and in excellence serving one another.

We continue to see the connection between sin and our need for revival.
