Jesus himself is the way to God. It is important, then, that we know the person who speaks, grasp the identity he reveals as the Way, the Truth, and the Life, understand the hope he offers, and embrace the claim he makes.
Are you quick at defending yourself? Have you put your rights to death? All believers need to understand how to handle criticism in their own life. God honors us when we go through criticism by listening and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, instead of defending self by puffing up the flesh.
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, "The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?"
3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel.
4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, "Take away the filthy garments from him." And to him He said, "See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes."
5 And I said, "Let them put a clean turban on his head."
So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the Lord stood by.
6 Then the Angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying, 7 "Thus says the Lord of hosts:
'If you will walk in My ways,
And if you will keep My command,
Then you shall also judge My house,
And likewise have charge of My courts;
I will give you places to walk
Among these who stand here.
8 'Hear, O Joshua, the high priest,
You and your companions who sit before you,
For they are a[b] wondrous sign;
For behold, I am bringing forth My Servant the BRANCH.
9 For behold, the stone
That I have laid before Joshua:
Upon the stone are seven eyes.
Behold, I will engrave its inscription,'
Says the Lord of hosts,
'And I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 In that day,' says the Lord of hosts,
'Everyone will invite his neighbor
Under his vine and under his fig tree.' "
Job had an adversary, who knew all about him, he was
walking about, seeking whom he might devour and ruin, he
had already laid his eyes upon Job, but he couldn't get to
It's notable that Satan didn't deny God's commendation of
Job in his character and testimony; "Indeed you have
blessed Job" saith Satan! But that's why he worships and
serves you because you bless him!
But beside this, accusation, there was no apparent
besetting sin that Satan could accuse Job of before God!
But let me at him, saith Satan, let me take all Your
blessings from him, and I will show you that Job doesn't
just fear you simply because you're God!
Greetings and welcome! This is our daily devotional for April 16, 2023. Today we continue our series in the Book of Acts in chapter 6 with Stephen's accusers revealing their charges. How would Stephen respond? Where would he even start? Thanks for joining us!
Because Christ is heaven's true King who is innocent of any crime and the very embodiment of Truth, we must not fail to hear and believe what He says and place our trust fully in Him.
I. Jesus Stands Accused as a Criminal vv 28-32
II. Jesus Stands Revealed as Heaven's True King vv 33-38a
III. Jesus Stands Acquitted of Any Crime, yet is rejected by those who refuse to believe vv 38b-40
Is God able to use a person like me? I am not perfect. I have huge failures in my past, and I don't even see how I can be used. Dr. Logan shares how God wants to use all of us. What a joy to be able to serve God in heaven and the joy that comes from that privilege.
PM sermons are preceded by a Confessional, Catechism, or Historic Creed lesson. Usually 5 minutes or so
113 Q. What is the aim of the tenth commandment? A. That not even the slightest desire or thought contrary to any one of God's commandments should ever arise in our hearts. Rather, with all our hearts we should always hate sin and take pleasure in whatever is right.
Scripture: Mark 14:53-72
Sermon: JESUS STANDS BEFORE HIS ACCUSERS AND IS DENIED
Points: I. Inconsistent Testimony against Him (Vss 53-59)
II. Pre-Supposed False Testimony against Him (Vss 60-65)
III. Peter's Humiliating Denial of Christ (vss 66-72)
Celebrated the Lord's Supper
JESUS STANDS BEFORE HIS ACCUSERS
"Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies did not agree." Mark 14:55-56
When Jesus faces the Sanhedrin, they already know the verdict they want, but they are unable to adjudicate their case. The testimony of their false witnesses doesn't agree.
Finally, the High Priest take matters into his pen hands. He asks Jesus, "Are the the Christ, the Son of the blessed?" Jesus answers, "I AM. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."
Whom do you believe and to whom are you going to listen? That was the question then and that's the question now!
Paul Appeals to Caesar
Festus takes over and has a meeting with the Jews. The Jews come down to Caesarea for a hearing accusing Paul. Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, tries to convince Paul to go up to Jerusalem for a trial. On that request Paul appeals to Caesar and is granted his request. Upon awaiting for the process Paul is examined before King Agrippa who happens to come to town. Festus confides in Agrippa to specify official charges to bring against Paul in his appeal seeing it is not clear exactly what he has done wrong. Recorded on March 7, 2022 Running Time 24 Minutes.
God revealed Himself to the Jews and they rejected Him. America is called a Christian nation yet we are turning away from Jesus the same as Israel did in the Old Testament. The outcome of our consequences is grave unless we find our way back to God.
