This is the shortest and most personal of all of Paul's letters. It tells the story of the conversion of a runaway slave named Onesimus and the appeal to his owner, Philemon, to take him back. "His long flight from justice [providentially] led him to Paul in Rome." Paul led him to Christ. Onesimus was sent back and was accompanied by Tychicus carrying this letter and The Epistle To The Colossians. Philemon was informed that his life had been dramatically changed. He was now a profitable servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
