Steadfast and Immovable

Paul exhorts believers to be steadfast and immovable in doing the Lord's will because he has clearly shown that the future belongs to the Lord and His people and we all know how that turns out. Thus, he encourages us by reminding us that all the hard toil we do in the Lord's name and for His glory will not be in vain, that is, it has eternal significance. There is an inseparable connection between the work we do in this life and the next life and thus we are not to live for things that will not endure the last trumpet.
