We Are not Peddlers

76

As we come to the 17th verse of Second Corinthians, we notice an interesting Greek word found nowhere else in our literature. But the root word is found in Isaiah 1:22, where it refers to an innkeeper who sells customers what is supposed to be pure drink, but drink that has been cut with water.

Preaching is the explanation and application of God's written Word, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, with a focus on the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When people walk into a church building, they should expect to hear God's holy Word preached. Sadly, that is often not the case. It wasn't the case in the Apostle Paul's day either.

There is always hope for tomorrow if we are committed to being a congregation where the Bible is preached, where people are directed to turn from themselves to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Location is not the ultimate issue, because people will drive many miles for a good hot meal, but the only meal we offer is the Lord Jesus as he is offered in the gospel.
