Law of Love and Liberty: When Greed Meets Grace
Series The Ten Commandments
Rightly loving our neighbors demands that we respect not only their person – but their property. Personal property rights – and the stewardship these rights imply – are an essential building block for community. This is God's design from creation. Fallen man always wants more than what God has provided, and even feels he's entitled to it. But a biblical understanding of possessions calls us to a life of gratitude and contentment, recognizing that we're merely stewards of God's good gifts. As with all the 10 commandments, the negative command – "You shall not steal" – has positive demands. God's people are to respect what belongs to others, treat one another fairly when it comes to money, and even expend ourselves to protect what is valuable to others. I hope to see you here this Sunday as we continue our study of the 10 Commandments, "Law of Love and Liberty."
