Is Obama God's Servant?

Is Barack Obama God's servant? Such a question invites passionate responses from two different directions. From one side, some would assert that Obama is not only God's servant but his service is messianic in its proportions. Some on the other side would insist that not only is Obama NOT God's servant, he is God's enemy and the enemy of free men everywhere. The tendencies to deify or demonize political figures are not something new. John Calvin called attention to it in his Institutes. It is not passion, but purity of faith that must define our relationship as believers to civil government and those who rule over us. By the "purity of faith" I believe Calvin meant believing and acting on what God has said in his word. What is our relationship to the governments of this world?
