What is the purpose of the temptation account? Why is it in the gospels?
In this lesson we examine Luke's account of the temptations and their place in the context of his gospel. Rather than an exemplary lesson in how to fight temptation, the accounts examine what it means for Jesus to be the Son of God, and therefore what it means for us to be the children of God. The same temptations that Jesus faced, we today face in the church: the desire to be provided for, protected, and to wield power in the name of God.
