God's Love Undeserved (Part 2) Pages 19-20 from Washer's Book, 'Journey into the Gospel'

8,256

Possibly the most amazing, even astounding aspect of God's love is that it is unconditional and undeserved. God is so infinitely great that He must condescend to love even the most splendid of His creatures. Therefore, it is an unfathomable demonstration of grace that He would love fallen man, and that that love would lead to the incarnation and death of the His only begotten Son. Our recognition that God's love is totally undeserved is absolutely essential to any proper understanding of it. It is only to the degree that we understand man's depravity and lack of merit that we can fully comprehend the nature of God's love that moved Him to send His Son.
