Law of Love and Liberty: The God Who is Sufficient

207 ( 88 | 119 )

We tend to gauge our spiritual maturity by outward measures -- the same way we gauge the maturity of others. The 10th Commandment won't let us get away with that. "You shall not covet… anything that is your neighbor's" (Exodus 20:17 NKJV). Not until we meditate on the last of the 10 Commandments do we realize just how deeply sin is settled within us. Known only to God and ourselves is the reality of our desires, and the true state of our contentment with God's good providence in our lives. We're not alone in this. The Apostle Paul said it was the 10th Commandment that confronted him with his sinfulness because it forced him to consider his heart, not just his behavior. It takes the ongoing power of the gospel to conquer disordered desires and compel us to live contentedly within God's will for us. This Sunday, we'll finish our study of the 10 Commandments, "Law of Love and Liberty." I hope to see you here!
