Finding True Rest and Security

187 ( 128 | 59 )

There were those in Isaiah's day that no longer wanted to hear about the judgements of the 'Holy One of Israel'. They wanted a 'smooth word' from the preacher to suit their own desires. But such a word would not bring true rest and security.

God loves us too much to leave us sheltering in our ever failing delusions. He is about breaking up the false securities of this world in order for our faith to be established on a sure foundation. His judgements are not a monotony of vengeance– indiscriminate and random, but purposeful, wise, full of his mercy and always with a view to a rich and glorious harvest.

'Whoever believes will not be in haste' (rushing around in an anxious panic) but will know the rest and security that God has promised to those who trust in Him.
