The Finished Work

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

We cannot acceptably serve our generation, nor will God accept any work we do, unless His glory be our chief aim in it. We must say, as Christ said, “I have glorified Thee,” in whatever work we are called unto. Glorifying God is even more remarkable in the sense that we need not wait until we arrive in heaven to glorify God, but glorifying Him in our work begins here and now on earth. Yet because of many worries, distractions and temptations, with so much concern for taking care of one's self first, so few actually mind the work given them. But this is not so of Christ; by His preaching, miracles, sufferings and obedience unto death, Christ glorified God in every aspect of His life, finishing the work given Him.
