Christ was Faithful to the Father

143

God's Word proclaims His Faithfulness to His people - that He can be relied upon to keep His promises and work His mighty power to us-ward who believe.

But the Scriptures specifically describe the Lord Jesus as faithful to His Father. He was faithful in all His house to Him that appointed Him.

Moses is the type of Christ's faithfulness, but he was only a servant. Christ is the Son over His own house, His Church which He builds in faithfulness to the Father.

Christ's faithfulness to the Father was foretold by the prophets. It was demonstrated at the temple when, but a lad of 12 years old, He proclaimed that He must be about His Father's business.

Think of it - the Lord Jesus, as a young lad, knew the work that He must complete, and He knew that it included being God's Lamb of sacrifice for His people - and yet at an age when most of us were at play, Christ was eager to do His Father's will!

Christ constantly spoke of His obedience to His Father's will, and the necessity to perform that will perfectly. His soul was revived when His Gospel bore precious fruit in souls brought to Him.

Christ even proclaimed His faithfulness and obedience to the critics who would condemn Him.

Christ declared His faithfulness to His Father in many prayers. His Father always knew the Son would be faithful, for He said of Him, This is my beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased!

Christ was faithful to the bitter end at Calvary, when in agony and blood He took care to see that not a word of God failed to be fulfilled though it caused Him more sorrow and pain.

The Lord's Table testifies to Christ's faithfulness to the Father and to us. What He finished we celebrate!
