Outright rebellion and tingling ears
Series 1 & 2 Kings
148
The reigns of Manasseh and his son Amon provoked God's wrath so much that the Lord declared he would abandon his people. They will be handed over to their enemies as victims of plunder. This sermon traces the rebellion of Manasseh showing how he out-sinned even the wicked Canaanite nations as he descended into paganism. God's judgement is inevitable, striking fear into the hearts of all who hear of it. Is there no hope? Even in the chaos there appear some who still believe in God's promises to David, installing eight-year old Josiah on the throne. How do we avoid despair in dark days? All our hopes are founded ultimately on David's greatest descendant, the Lord Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.
