The Power and Purpose of the Word

God's work is accomplished through His Word which is truth. The Bible, being the Word of God, is one of a kind, unique in its content, in its power, and in its purpose. Care must continually be taken by God’s people concerning what they do with God’s Word. It must personally be learned and applied to life. Knowing what the Bible says is the mean to the end goal of being saved and transformed by the Spirit of God who works through the Word. More knowledge should result in increasing godliness – not arrogance or complacency as knowledge grows. When knowledge of the Word becomes the end in and of itself, and not the means to the end, it is not being used as God intended nor will it accomplish the ultimate purpose God has for giving it. Such is an apt warning for all believers, especially those who have been believers for a while. The questions should often be asked of ourselves, “what am I doing with what I know?”
