The Danger of Unfruitful Convictions
182
In Matt. 12 Jesus paints the picture of the danger of unfruitful convictions. He is speaking to the Jews about the danger of having heard his words and then continuing on in unbelief. He does this with a parable of the unclean spirit which goes out of a man and after he is gone the house is cleaned, swept and garnish but no other guest enters in. So when the evil spirit returns, he takes with him seven other spirits and takes up residence there. The end of that man is worse than he was before. This is applicable to people today who have convictions and yet have not acted upon them but continue on their way either in sin or in self-righteousness.
