D. A conviction that God is sovereign and that He is in control
E. The expectation that God will ultimatily supress all evil forces working against His sovereign plan
F. These visions of celelstial scenes and beings give insight for the reader/hearer of the vision
G. Heavenly interpreters expain the secens in language that is understandable
H. There is a contrast between good and evil, this age and the age to come
I. God's promise is to act so as to restore His people and establish a glorious new world order

II. The Common Themes of It in the Bible
A. An assumption that the situation is growing hopeless for God's people
B. However bleak things may seem, God is pictured as sovereign in heaven and He will one day descend and the whole earth will be filled with His glory
C. The visions are given in oder to give perspective to the hearers
D. Evil is no match for God
E. The world system tempts believers to compromise and they are called to live holy and blameless lives in the midst of incredible calamity
F. God's people are called to persevere
G. God will restore creation and will live forever with His people in a perfect community

A. We should approach this style with humility
B. We should try to discover the message
