Law of Love and Liberty: God's Narrow Way

Just as murderous thoughts devalue people made in God's image, so adulterous thoughts murder marriages. That's why God places a protective boundary around sexual intimacy: it's reserved for one man, married to one woman, for life. "You shall not commit adultery." Exodus 20:14 (NKJV) Like all of God's moral law, the seventh commandment reaches deep into the heart, and has far-reaching implications for society. Any distortion of God's design for sex within marriage not only offends His holiness, but unravels the bonds of family and community. Not surprisingly, rampant sexual sin always characterizes both souls, and societies, in decay. Lasting hope is found only in the gospel. In Christ we find both freedom from condemnation, and freedom from bondage to sin.
