How You End is Most Important
Series 1 Kings
The beginning is not as important as how you finish. If you crash a plane, no one will talk about your great takeoff. What matters most is how you end!
Rehoboam started out his reign really well. He walked after the Lord for the first 3 years, but then forsook God after becoming established.
He didn't inherit God's promises because He didn't wait upon the Lord.
Rehoboam cut a deal with Shishak the king of Egypt, giving him all of Solomon's gold shields which were symbols of God's glory. Rehoboam replaced these with shields of bronze, most likely deceiving his people.
When you get out of fellowship with God, you don't display His glory. Perhaps you display an imitation bronze shield to cover it up.
If you want to be a powerful witness for God, you must be in fellowship with Him. As you read His Word, you behold His glory and you are conformed to the image of His Son.
Let others see Jesus in you!
