--> ENTIRE SERIES OUTLINE

Doctrine: The Lord Jesus teaches you to pray first for God’s glory and then for human needs.

THE MASTER OF PRAYER (11.1)

  1. His Example (11.1a) as one fully and truly human, and as one perfect in prayer.
  2. His Condescension (11.1b) to be heard by and to hear His disciples, and to give what they asked.

THE MATTER OF PRAYER (11.2-4)

  1. The Authoritative Model Prayer (11.2a) is a prayer to be prayed, a prayer to guide all our prayers, and a prayer of church fellowship.

  2. Its Beginning: Reverent Address (11.2b) only directed to the true God, and only in the right way.

  3. Its Petitions for God's Glory (11.2c-e). First, that God's name would be hallowed. Second, that His kingdom would come. Third, that His will would be done.

  4. Its Petitions for Human Needs (11.3-4). First, that He would supply our bodily needs. Second, that He would forgive our sins. Third, that He would keep us from temptation, and deliver us from the evil one when we are tempted.
