Hosanna to the Son of David!
Series Isaiah
Idea: Deliverance comes from Messiah the Prince. It calls us as individuals and church to rely on Jesus and to be ruled and governed by His Word and Spirit.
Matthew Henry has provided an excellent outline of the chapter, which I pass on to you.
I. His rise out of the house of David (v. 1).
II. His qualifications for his great undertaking (v. 2, 3).
III. The justice and equity of his government (v. 3-5).
IV. The peaceableness of his kingdom (v. 6-9).
Application:
I. Salvation comes from Jesus alone, the Prince of peace.
II. We learn to ask Jesus to supply what we need for faith and life. Eph 4 describes Jesus as a mighty, victorious king. He descended to do battle and to defeat the enemy Satan. He has ascended on high, leading a great train of freed men and women who had been captives. To them He gives gifts for the working out their faith and building up of His kingdom. He holds the gifts of the Spirit, and you may go to him directly when you are in need.
