Faith Outlasts the Universe

90

This is a short excursion, while still in the Gospel of Luke, to consider true saving faith. If there is a kind of faith that doesn't save, it seems only logical that I would seriously want to know whether the faith I possess is genuine or not. Jonathan Edwards went to great pains to distinguish between true and false faith. One of the ways of being convinced that faith is genuine is to examine it while under trial. Is the central drive of your heart to honour Christ, even when you are suffering? Are you convinced that God will glorify himself through the outcome of your faith through suffering? True faith endures the fire. True faith "sees" the invisible Christ and is devoted to him. True faith is entranced by the miraculous new birth. Jesus is their life. True faith does not look at circumstances and evaluate God's love according to them. Even when it doesn't seem to be love, the true believer is convinced of God's love for them. True faith is in love with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. True faith loves Jesus Christ. True saving faith is a big and real thing--it is a miracle! True saving faith will outlast the universe!
