They Became Fools

Last week we took a look at the wrath of God revealed from heaven against sin; & that the bad news is what makes the good news, GOOD NEWS! The central point of the gospel is the Cross of Jesus Christ, where God pours out His holy wrath upon His Son as a propitiation for sin. If you remove that, you DO… NOT… HAVE… THE… GOSPEL… PERIOD.

This week, we're going to take a close look at sin. When we speak of the wrath of God, His holy & just anger against sin, we're not talking about some cosmic grump or supreme meaning. God is a good & holy God; & there's a reason for His righteous anger: SIN. To dismiss the sin of mankind or to casually brush over sin as if it were nothing, is IN ITSELF, sin against the holiness of God. Men who smugly defend their compromised preaching in pulpits across America with statements like: “Our messages are upbeat & positive because you can attract more flies w/honey than you can w/vinegar…” are going to have to answer to a holy God for every one of their idle words.

To be the good news that the Gospel is, God's wrath is revealed against sin, & man's sin is exposed in all its wickedness against a holy God. Thru the preaching of the Word of God, the Holy Spirit convicts the soul of sin, justice-ness, and judgment (God's wrath), & by God's grace, a sinner is effectually called unto salvation because of God's declaration of justice in having faith in God's only Son, Jesus Christ, who suffered the fury of God's holy wrath for sin.
