To The Uttermost & Forever
Series Hebrews
21
As the writer advances his case for the superiority of Christ's priesthood due its permanence he contrasts, in 7:23-24, the death-necessitated succession of the Levitical priests with the intransmissible priesthood of Christ. The consequence drawn from Christ's permanent, inviolable priesthood is set forth in 7:25, "Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him,.." Our great high priest has the capacity to save His people completely (to the uttermost) and eternally (forever). There are no limitations in degree or duration to the saving power of our abiding High Priest.
